Audio recordings included in this series:

Abnormal Paps, Cervical Dysplasia and HPV
Katie Stage, ND, RH (AHG), FABNG
This fast-paced and comprehensive presentation begins with a discussion of the many strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV). Low-risk strains cause warts of all types; high-risk strains of HPV cause most abnormal paps and cervical cancer. Many people don’t realize that high-risk HPV can also cause oropharyngeal, esophageal, vulvar, penile, and anal cancers. This presentation highlights the latest research on HPV, as well as conventional and herbal treatments for the virus. Herbal treatments for abnormal paps are also discussed. (Product Code: 18SW08)

Women, Autoimmunity and Estrogen Metabolism
Mary Bove, ND
Hormonal imbalances impact a woman’s health and contribute to manifestations of autoimmune disease in menopausal women. This presentation begins with a detailed review of estrogen metabolism pathways–following along in the PowerPoint in the digital book helps with this section. Botanical, nutritional, dietary and lifestyle interventions for autoimmune conditions common to women are then described in detail. A traditional herbal approach combined with an evidence-based review of current research examines potential botanical and nutritional treatments for hormonal regulation, optimizing estrogen metabolism, quenching free radicals, turning down the inflammatory pathways, and offering symptom relief. (Product Code: 20ME15)

Hormonal Depression in Women
Amanda McQuade Crawford
Women are statistically much more likely to suffer from major depressive disorders than men. We examine three types of women’s mood disorders where hormones also play a role in changed behavior and cognition. The focus is on botanical and other natural therapies for premenstrual, postpartum and menopausal depression. Based on clinical experience with natural therapies supported by research, the presentation points health care providers toward getting at root causes. An abundance of clinical pearls and a case history round out this presentation, which include Amanda’s command of both science-based and folkloric uses during the last half-hour. (Product Code: 18ME18)

Pessaries: Feminine Healing for Shining the Light and Mending the Tissues
Teresa Boardwine, RH (AHG)
Enjoy Teresa’s special energy while learning how to make many different vaginal suppositories depending on a woman’s need: vaginitis, cervical dysplasia, menopausal dryness, clearing unwanted energies and more. She goes through the ingredients and their effects on our tissues, and the ways to incorporate them into recipes for pessaries. Part of this is a demonstration with pauses for stirring and mixing, almost as if you’re there in person with this very talented speaker with a home economics background. (Product Code: 16ME10)

Mushroom Medicine in Women’s Health
Tori Hudson, ND
This presentation covers the history of medicinal mushrooms, the importance of the effects of beta-glucans on the immune system, and an exploration of the relationship between mushrooms and cancer care. Includes research on Lentinula edodes (shitake), Agaricus bisporus (white button mushrooms), Cordyceps sinensis, Trametes (Coriolus) versicolor (turkey tail), Hericium erinaeus (lion’s mane), Grifola frondosa (maitake), and Ganoderma lucidum (reishi). (Product Code: 21SW16)

Botanical Strategies for Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis
Katie Stage, ND, RH (AHG), FABNG
Chronic pelvic pain affects up to 39% of reproductive-aged women. This session explores common and less common causes of pelvic pain, including endometriosis. This is an area of great opportunity for practitioners, and of great need for women affected, as conventional treatments are limited and often ineffective. We discuss botanical treatments for pelvic pain and endometriosis, as well as supportive lifestyle approaches. (Product Code: 20ME01)

Food Addiction in Women: Botanical Treatment Strategies
Marianne Marchese, ND
Food addiction is very different than an eating disorder. It is common in women and yet can be difficult to recognize and address in patients. This presentation provides the latest research describing forms of food addiction and helps the practitioner diagnose this emerging problem. It explains the link to neurotransmitters, hormones, gut microbiome, behaviors and lifestyle. In-depth treatment strategies are provided including botanicals, medications, nutrients, nutrition and lifestyle interventions. Please note this recording was created on Zoom during the pandemic, and there are a few very brief gaps when the connection faded in and out. The PowerPoint in the series book can help to absorb every point of this valuable lecture! (Product Code: 20SW14)

Panel: Restoring Mental Health in the 21st Century—Managing Chronic Overwhelm
Panelists: Teresa Boardwine, RH (AHG), Katie Stage, ND and David Winston, RH (AHG)
Although this panel was recorded during the second year of the pandemic, the challenges to mental health, and the feeling that life is just too much to handle, have persisted for many people, especially in women*. What can we recommend to restore equilibrium in these times, both for ourselves as practitioners and our patients? Discover lifestyle, botanical and nutritional therapies you may not have yet considered. (Product Code 21ME21)
