Symposium Information

Medicines from the Earth 2015Location: YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly – 84 Blue Ridge Circle, Black Mountain, North Carolina.

Lodging and Meals: All inclusive lodging and meal packages start at $196 total for three nights’ lodging and eight meals. Commuter meals are also available for $80 for the weekend.

Register for lodging and meals online. Blue Ridge does not take reservations by phone. You may also fill out this form and mail or email it to them.

Arrival: When arriving please come to the Pavilion at Blue Ridge Assembly. Setup begins at noon on Friday, June 3 More details below.

Note on Safety:

Here’s the latest from Blue Ridge Assembly on COVID safety:

  • Face masks are now optional. (Subject to change based on County guidelines.)
  • Proof of vaccination & booster / testing. Everyone presents one of the following on arrival. (Photocopy or digital photo OK):
    • Proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination AND a booster (if eligible for booster) received at least 14 days prior to arrival at Blue Ridge Assembly
      –OR–
    • Negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival at Blue Ridge.
      –OR–
    • Negative rapid antigen test taken within 6 hours of arrival at Blue Ridge. (These are the home tests available in most stores.)
  • See all measures planned for COVID safety at the symposium

    Exhibitor Details

    1. Please email the Conference Manager at caitlin@botanicalmedicine.org the names of your two exhibit reps and their email addresses. Please keep us informed if the names change. Extra reps (more than two) at the booth pay a special registration fee of $289.

    2. Each exhibitor is supplied with an 8′ rectangular table and chairs in the Pavilion at Blue Ridge Assembly. Bring table coverings or draping.

    3. Setup in the exhibit area is 12PM-8PM on Friday, June 3, and 7AM-10AM on Saturday, June 4. The exhibit area is open during symposium registration, breaks and meals. Attendee registration begins at 5PM on Friday and will take place in the exhibit hall area. There will be a reception with music and snacks, so it’s a good idea to be set up by then. The full conference schedule is now available here. The last exhibitor break ends at 1PM on Monday, June 6.

    4. Tables are staffed during breaks and meals. You may want to bring an extra cloth to cover your exhibit when you aren’t there. The exhibit hall will be locked at night.

    5. If you would like to ship materials to the symposium, they should arrive no earlier than Wednesday, June 1. Your packages will be brought to your table for you. Address your shipped materials to:

    6. The conference is not responsible for lost or stolen articles and cannot ship goods back to exhibitors. All shipping after the event is the exhibitor’s responsibility.

    Continuing Education Information

    Please sign up in advance for your CE program even if there’s no extra charge. Add it to your registration by emailing the Conference Manager at caitlin@botanicalmedicine.org.

    Pending approval, we offer CE, CME, CNE, PDA and CEUs for:

    • AMERICAN ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS (AAFP): Approval Pending for up to 41 hours Prescribed Credit* for DO, MD, RN, FNP, California NDs and others
    • Acupuncturists: Approved for maximum 21.5 PDA hours
    • Naturopathic Physicians: Approval pending for all NDs (including California CNDA) who accept AAFP credits described above. Application to be submitted to OBNM.
    • NursesApproval Pending by the AAFP (see above) for up to 41 hours CE credit. (AAFP is recognized by the ANCC as a provider of nursing continuing education for RNs, FNPs and other nursing professionals)

    Other Symposium Information

    Naturopathic CE 2018Cancellations: Before May 13, registration fees will be refunded minus $100 processing per registrant. No refunds can be given after 5/13/22. Cancellations should be emailed to the Conference Manager at caitlin@botanicalmedicine.org.

    Pets, smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed at Blue Ridge Assembly.

    Alternate Lodging:  NEW! Hampton Inn of Black Mountain (828) 669-1000. At the voicemail prompt stay on the line to reach the hotel directly and make a reservation with the front desk. Other lodging: Quality Inn (828) 669-9950 and Super 8 Motel (828) 669-8076. 

    If you are flying, the closest airport is Asheville, NC (AVL). Uber and Lyft both operate from the airport. Additionally, van service to Blue Ridge Assembly is provided by Diamond Executive Car Transportation. Call (828) 281-8139 to make your van reservations. Cost: $65 one way +3% for credit card payment (50 minute trip). If more than one person in the van, the fee is split evenly.

    If you are driving to Blue Ridge Assembly, the address is 84 Blue Ridge Circle, Black Mountain, NC 28711. The conference center is located 14 miles east of Asheville, 2 miles from Interstate 40. From Interstate 40 take exit 64, “Black Mountain/Montreat, Hwy 9” and turn south on Highway 9. Proceed less than one-half mile and bear right on Blue Ridge Road. Travel one mile and turn left at the SMALL Blue Ridge Assembly sign. Proceed up the drive to Blue Ridge Center. Signs will direct you to registration.

    Here’s a more detailed list of steps we are taking so that everyone can feel comfortable at Medicines from the Earth.

    1. All attendees, whether commuters or staying on the grounds, are required to show proof of full vaccination (+booster) or a negative COVID test (see details above).

    2. Anyone with a fever, cough or mild cold symptoms will be asked to stay home, even if a recent test has been negative.

    3. Masks are now optional indoors.

    4. Lecture halls will be arranged for social distancing, and only the two largest, Chapel and Washburn Auditorium will be used for indoor lectures.

    5. More outdoor classes (herb walks and field studies) are scheduled.

    6. The exhibit hall, CE table and information tables are all in the spacious Pavilion this year to avoid crowding in the lobby.

    7. The dining room is arranged to avoid crowding and allow for social distancing.
