Saturday Intensive: Biophilia: Green Medicine for People and the Planet with Chanchal Cabrera

Drawing from her masters research and combining meditation and medicine, Chanchal guides you on journey deep into the plant spirit world. With a wealth of clinical references and scientific research as well as through experiential learning outdoors, this class might change your whole outlook on the healing power of herbs.

Chanchal Cabrera

Chanchal Cabrera is a Fellow of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (UK) and an herbal practitioner with over 25 years of clinical practice. She is a certified master gardener and a certified horticulture therapist. Her clinical specialty is helping people manage cancer. Chanchal has held the faculty chair in Botanical Medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster since 2004. She serves on the board of advisors of Dominion Herbal College in Burnaby, on the editorial board of Medical Herbalism clinical newsletter and she publishes widely in professional journals and lectures nternationally on medical herbalism, nutrition and health. Chanchal is the author of the book Fibromyalgia – A Journey Toward Healing published by Contemporary Books.

Chanchal lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia where she and her husband farm 7 acres. They grow food for 10 households, culinary herbs for restaurants and medicinal herbs for her clinic. They also run therapy gardens for people with disabilities and host internships in organic farming and herbal medicine. In 2009 Chanchal was honored with a Fellowship in the NIMH for service to the profession over 25 years.


Hobbs Christopher

Sunday Intensive: Treating Infections with Natural Medicine—An Integrative and Cross-Cultural Approach
Speaker: Christopher Hobbs, PhD

Evidence-based and referenced, but also drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine and standards of western herbal practice. Focus is on upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, Lyme disease, liver infections, vaginal infections and dysbiosis.

Christopher Hobbs, PhD is a is a fourth-generation herbalist, licensed acupuncturist, author, clinician, botanist, mycologist, and research scientist with over 35 years of experience with herbal medicine. He has a doctorate from UC Berkeley in phylogenetics, evolutionary biology and phytochemistry. He is also a founding member of the American Herbalists Guild. More about Christopher here.
