This lecture will focus on bridging the ecological perspective of traditional Chinese medicine with modern biomedical science. The overarching theme will be to engage in what I call telescoping, or layering of the lenses, where we will be layering fundamental principles with biological facts to develop a more holistic model of care for our patients. We will take a deep dive into the 12 organ networks, and what I call Elemental Endocrinology, where we will explore each organ network through the lens of Ancestral, Ecological, and Rational medicine. This lecture will cover organ functions, essential connections throughout the body, interrelationships between organ networks, as well as biomedical correlations that will include an overlay of TCM-based pathological factors on biomedical pathophysiology.
