Speaker: David Winston, RH (AHG). In many systems of traditional medicine (TCM, Ayurveda, Tibetan Medicine, Siddha, Unani Tibb) the use of foods for specific medicinal purposes is an integral part of diet therapy. This was also true for many practitioners in the early "nature cure" movement in the U.S. To this day we all know prune juice is a laxative, cranberries help inhibit UTIs, chocolate elevates mood and ginger is useful for nausea and GI upset. What about all the other foods? We explore the use of common foods including celery, cabbage, tofu, cherries, green beans, black beans, kiwi fruit, potatoes, olive oil. watercress and many more for treating disease and improving our health.
