Speaker: Bill Mitchell. Continued from Part 1 this is an all encompassing discussion of many ideas rather than a clinically exacting presentation. The first section deals with the treatment of cancer by an alternative practitioner such as a naturopathic physician as the primary ally. Botanicals described in this section include Vinca minor, Cephalotaxus fortunei, Cercocarpus montana, Baptisia, pau d' arco, and many others. Dosages are usually greater than when used as a complement to chemotherapy and other allopathic treatments.
The second section describes useful strategies for working with a patient who is also taking the allopathic treatments of chemotherapy and/or radiation. The rules for the use of each of the following are discussed in detail: fasting, immune enhancing botanicals, hydrotherapy, special diets, intention enhancement, hypnotherapy, heat treatments and yoga. Agents used to protect the liver from chemotherapy include milk thistle artichoke, gambir, quercetin, Vitamin C and others.
