This session introduces the clinical foundations of psychedelic-assisted therapy within an integrative and naturopathic psychiatry framework. Participants will explore the historical and contemporary use of plant-based psychedelics such as Psilocybe species and Banisteriopsis caapi-containing preparations, with attention to mechanisms of action, therapeutic indications, and current regulatory landscapes. The lecture emphasizes preparation, set and setting, trauma-informed care, and ethical considerations essential to safe and effective practice. Integration of botanical medicine, lifestyle support, and psychotherapy principles to optimize outcomes will be discussed.
