Continuing Education: ND applications to be submitted for 3 hours of general credit of which 1.5 (Arizona) or 1 (Oregon) can be counted as pharmacy.

Description: 

Summary: A discussion of the clinical aspects of innate and acquired immunology 
and the physiology of inflammation. Begins with a review of the clinical presentation 
of immune and inflammatory conditions, and then contrasts the mainstream pharmaceutical 
approaches with the use of nutraceuticals and botanical medicines. 

Details:
A review of the latest research on the antecedents, triggers and
mediators of inflammation, molecular mechanisms of inflammatory signal
transduction and the role of NKFB and Nrf2 modulators in clinical medicine.
 
Content will focus on overlapping mechanisms and treatment strategies for
cardiometabolic disease, autoimmune disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
 
Phytochemicals include glucosinolates (Brassica oleracea vegetables),  resveratrol, 
pterostilbene, curcuminoids (Curcuma longa), bromelain (Ananas comosus),  Boswellia 
serrata
, Salix species, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Camellia sinensis and Silybum marianum.

Pharmaceuticals include NSAIDs, leukotriene inhibitors, corticosteroids, DMARDs, 
and biologic therapies (eg anti-cytokines)

Robert Rountree, MD Biography:
Robert Rountree has been providing his unique combination of traditional family medicine, nutrition, herbology and mind-body therapy at his clinic in Boulder, Colorado, since 1983.
