2008 SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE on BOTANICAL MEDICINE Field Study Information
|
Friday Field Studies, April 4, 9 AM- 3:30 PM
Due to popular demand, two field studies in different locations are being offered. (Note: you may only attend one, not both, since they are offered at the same time.)
The field studies allow a small group (limit 20 for each field study) to experience a longer, more in-depth herb walk. Open only to participants registered for the Southwest Conference. Bring hiking boots, a pack lunch and water. Fee: $55. Both locations are less than an hour from the Dobson Ranch Inn. You may camp the night before in the desert and experience all its moods, from dawn till dusk, or arrive in the morning. Sign up early for a field study- this is an experience not to be missed!Picketpost Trailhead Mimi Kamp FULL
Join us for a journey into the Superstition Mountains volcanic area, where Mimi relates her experiences of the healing energies of native plants, both as physical and vibrational medicines. This is an opportunity to sit with the plants, experience that energy, and capture it in a plant essence to take with you when you leave. Ceremonial smudging with desert plants is also a part of this unique experience. Excellent physical condition is required as the trails are stony and at times steep. April 4, 9 AM- 3:30 PM. Two spots left!Boyce Thompson Arboretum Cascade Anderson Geller
Encompassing 35 acres at an elevation of 2500', this oldest arboretum in Arizona is a major center for plant research and a haven for plant-lovers. Here you will find countless examples of native vegetation from the Sonoran Desert, in addition to vegetation from arid and semi-arid regions of North America, South America, the Near East, Africa, Central Asia and Australia. This is a milder hike and there's more shade, so this field study is appropriate for a wider range of people. Cascade is honored to have you join her as she walks into the blooming springtime desert to pay homage to and share knowledge about the unique and astounding plants and landscape. April 4, 9 AM- 3:30 PM. $55
We look forward to seeing you there! :
