Southwest Conference on Botanical Medicine 2007 Report

The Southwest Conference on Botanical Medicine on April 14 & 15, 2007 in Tempe, Arizona was attended by over 400 enthusiastic participants.  Fortunately the weather again cooperated with beautiful days to accommodate the increased numbers. Outdoor lectures in the garden and tent made a nice counterpoint to the indoor presentations.  The herb garden at the school has never looked better and many plants were in full bloom.

The field studies on Friday filled rapidly and allowed an extended time of study of the plants in the desert environment.  Groups explored the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and the Picketpost Mountain Trailhead areas near Superior.  It rained the night before and the weather was cool and clear..

Clinical presentations during the conference included botanical therapies for sleep disorders, the aging endocrine system, chronic back pain, menopausal complaints, leaky gut syndrome, depression, anxiety, influenza, weight management, Alzheimer's dementia and much more. Updates on botanical research in women's health were presented by Tori Hudson, ND.

The keynote address on Saturday night by Tieraona Low Dog MD both inspired and informed the audience on the future of integrative medicine.

Digital recordings and the proceedings book from the conference are now available.

Next year's dates: April 5 & 6, 2008. Information on 2008 will be posted here as it becomes available.

We hope you will join us for a conference!  These events are a great way to meet like-minded people and learn the latest information on botanical treatments for a variety of conditions.
