Oregon Herb Conference 2004, Tape #12

Title: Clinical Examples of Herb Drug Interactions

Speaker:
Jonathan Treasure

Covers many points of theoretical and clinically significant herb drug interactions. Actions of ginkgo are featured.  Ginkgo is known to improve cognitive impairment from stroke and other causes, and has anti-ischemic and neuroprotective activity.  The actions of ginkgo on the clotting system of the blood should be very carefully evaluated before interpreting clinical data regarding possible interactions with anti-clotting drugs. The mechanisms of action, research, case reports and clinical implications of the interactions of gingko with oral anticoagulants are all examined and presented in more detail in the article in the conference book.
