The etiology of hepatitis C is presented, including a brief overview of symptoms and the necessity of blood tests for anyone at risk. The medical treatment of alpha interferon and the side effects are discussed. Therapies include improving immunity with astragalus, echinacea, ginseng, schizandra and other similar herbs. The role of milk thistle and licorice in preventing liver damage is discussed. Other herbs used by Dr. Mitchell for hepatitis C include: Chelidonium, Chionanthus, Ceanothus, turtlehead, mandrake, lemon balm, dandelion root and artichoke. Indications and dosages for each are presented.
